Christchurch Sewer Replacement

Donaldson Civil were called to Christchurch in the days following the February earthquake to assist other teams performing emergency work. After several hundred fixes assisting the city to get back on its feet, the initial team came home while designers and planners begun the task of tackling the rebuild plan per se.

A few months later, in June 2011 our team returned to Christchurch as part of the rebuild workforce, this time working under the Downer umbrella for SCIRT. We currently have seven permanent staff living in Christchurch and to date have installed over 3000m of sewer main and laterals to hundreds of houses. There has been some steep learning curves for the young team with changing ground conditions and extensive de-watering.
