Saxton Road – Commercial Site Works
The brief for this project was to transform the existing site which comprised of half grass field area and half seal carpark into the New Zealand post sorting center.
Excavation and site filling comprised of 1,400m2 of topsoil carted offsite which was recycled to screened soil. Then an imported fill volume of 3,200m3 to build the site up the elevation required for the building platform.
Following on from the earthworks portion our team excavated the footings for the new building followed by the additional filling inside the building perimeter and sand blinding before others laid the concrete floor. The sand blinding was done using a 3D laser bobcat for increased accuracy which minimized any over runs of the concrete pour.
Site drainage was completed in house with 280m of stormwater pipes surrounding the building, Sewer, water, Power and communications lines laid to the building. A first for our team an underground stormwater retention system installed which was required by the building consent.
To round out the package all site works with kerb and channel, preparation concrete driveways and entranceways was completed by the team onsite.
An innovative temporary carpark for the site was designed and created by Donaldson Civil using a geogrid and textile fabric to separate the topsoil layers from the new gravel carpark. The drastically reduced costs for the client and gave them the additional parking spaces required.
