Seaton Valley Stream Upgrade

Client: Tasman District Council
Location: Seaton Valley Stream, Stafford Drive, Mapua

The Seaton Valley Stream project was started in late November 2015 and completed Mid February 2016. This aim of this project was to aid in flood relief for the downstream properties of this site, between the site and the outlet at the Mapua estuary.

The stream was widened by an average of 2.5m through the 380m length of the site, with new batters cut, which were then topsoiled and covered with scour protection mats. The site was then hydroseeded to ensure a healthy grass strike in the least amount of time possible. Several pedestrian ramps were made which included rock protection.

This site had some very strict environmental conditions to the proximity of the stream, there were no compliance issues and officers were impressed each time they visited the site. The project was completed on time and under budget.
