Southshore Catchment, Christchurch

With a great track record and long standing partnership with Downer our team was contacted to price the Southshore catchment in New Brighton as part of the SCIRT Chch rebuild. Subsequently winning the job due to competitive rates and outstanding health and safety policies and procedures.

The project consisted of converting approximately 2400m of Gravity Sewer main to a newly developed Low Pressure Sewer system. PE pipe was used in the new system ranging in diameter from 63mm to 180mm; this was drilled in with Donaldson Civil’s new Vermeer 36×50 drill with a high volume pump. Very sandy ground conditions coupled with a high water table made for difficult drilling, a drill fluid engineer was brought in to solve this problem.

570 properties were connected to the new main with Donaldson Civil staff innovating new cost effective methodologies for the client and them selves during the process.
