Wakefield Watermain Renewals

The scope included installing 364m of 25mm PE laterals, 42m of 63mm PE ridermain, 680m of 180mm PE main, 397m of 250mm PE main, and 139m of 355mm PE main, including a challenging section up a steep bank and through a cemetery. Additionally, 51 house connections and nine connections to side streets were completed.
Directional drilling was used for laterals on ridermains to accommodate additional scope.
Safety and access were critical considerations, especially for pedestrian management and maintaining property access. A designated area for welding and storing long PE pipe strings reduced hazards near driveways, while staging minimized disruption during the removal and replacement of a boardwalk to install the 355mm PE pipe.
Quality assurance was largely handled in-house, including Asbuilt data capture using our GPS Rover. Environmental standards were met without incident, and the steep grass area was reinstated promptly to prevent erosion.
Despite some challenges, the project was delivered on time and within budget, with minimal variations and high-quality outcomes throughout all stages.
